COLLABORATIVE LAW
In the Collaborative Family Law process, each party retains a separate attorney specially trained in the collaborative law process. After specifically agreeing to refrain from seeking court intervention, both clients and their attorneys commit to resolving the outstanding issues equitably through a series of four-way (both clients and their attorneys) meetings, which emphasize respect, honesty, candor and professionalism with the goal to preserve the dignity and well-being not only of the parties, but the entire family. Everyone involved, including a neutral financial advisor and child specialist if needed, works together to develop a creative resolution that satisfies the most important needs of both parties. The involvement of the collaborative attorney in any litigation is strictly limited to incorporating the settlement agreement into a court order and handling the uncontested divorce action, if applicable.
